Farmers Market Basket of Hope & Happiness

Here is to a month of friendship, love and the community. The CBDA Farmers Market is the hub of our coastal community on Wednesdays, May through October. The Farmers Market staff and volunteers are busy
little bees this month doing all the behind the scene stuff to ensure we open on May 3rd!!! The 2023 CBDA Downtown Coos Bay Farmers Market will be filled with brand new programs as well as favorites
coming back – Music, Samples, Demonstrations, and Children’s programs too. The CBDA Food Accessibility program will offer SNAP/EBT with Double Up Food Bucks match for free extra fruits and veggies. WIC and Senior Nutrition program vouchers too!!!

Would you like to join the festivities? There are multiple ways to be a part of the 23rd season of our fabulous farmers market from being a vendor, a sponsor or a volunteer. Do you know of a hidden gem of an artist, food truck with tasty treats, or a favorite farm you would like to share and encourage to be a part of our “berry” fun Farmers Market family? Simply, email me at [email protected] with their contact information. Vendor applications will be available the first week of March. Follow and like us on Facebook for the official announcement.

Did you know you can use your EBT/SNAP card at the CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market? Simply go to the informational booth, we run your card for whatever amount you would like. Once the transaction is approved, we give you tokens to use in the market to purchase items from the vendors just like you would at the grocery store. The tokens never expire but are only good at the CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market. Last season our market helped 1128 families for a total of $56,073 given to customers and redeemed by our vendors.

The Double Up Food Bucks program is back as well this season. We will be able to match the first $20 you use on your SNAP/EBT card each week with $20 in fruit and vegetable vouchers for the entire season May – October. Among the DUFB, we will also have the CBDA Food Accessibility program that will further help the low-income population. It will run similar to DUFB, but the vouchers will only be good for things like milk, eggs, bread, honey, and more.

The Coos Bay Downtown Association (CBDA) Farmers Market is nestled right in the heart of the Historic Coos Bay Downtown District and is currently seeking exceptional businesses like yourself to become part of the Farmers Market family as sponsors. Sponsorships enable the CBDA Farmers Market to be in partnership with the SNAP/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks programs, provide handwashing stations, invest in children, healthy eating, better cooking and Food Accessibility programs and many other behind the scene projects.

During the 2022 Farmers Market season, we were able to help 1,847 food poor families and households, 341 which were brand new, utilize the CBDA Food Accessibility programs enabling them to have access to farm fresh products and produce at no cost to them. Last season the CBDA Food Accessibility program successfully distributed $81,380 to our Farmers Market families/households and redeemed $74,191 to our Farmers/producers for $155,571 back into our Coastal Community.

The CBDA Farmers Market started in 2000 and currently in its 23rd season has grown to be the largest Farmers Market on the Southern Oregon Coast serving Coos, Douglas, and Curry counties. It is a highlight and joy for residents and tourists to stroll their way downtown on Wednesdays, May through October to an easily accessible venue and have an opportunity to buy fresh local fruits and vegetables, farm products, homemade baked goodies, jams, candy, and hot food items too. Our local artisans offer a wide variety of unique handcrafted items as well.
